Find Your Fall Family Fun at Port Farms Fall Festival in Erie, PA

By Emily Papa, Macaroni KID South Hills Publisher September 27, 2023

From the moment we arrived at Port Farms in Waterford, Pennsylvania (about 30 minutes South of Erie) for their Fall Harvest, we knew our day would be filled with memorable family moments. This charming, family-owned farm slash outdoor learning classroom spanning over 200 acres had so much to offer for a day of family fun, and it’s almost all included in the admission price

My family and I were graciously hosted by Visit Erie, but all opinions expressed are my own.

Port Farms has so much to offer! Make sure you plan a large chunk of time here to accomplish it all!

The first attraction we spotted after walking through the market area was the massive corn bin. My kids couldn't get enough of it. Their laughter echoed as they swam and made "snow angels" in the sea of corn kernels; exploring and discovering this unique sensory experience.

When I finally pulled the kids out of the worlds greatest sand, I mean corn-box, we walked over to Tiny Town. Tiny Town is a literal Tiny Town for small children filled with tons of little shops & toys. There was a Pizzeria, Grocery Store, Mechanic Shop (complete with a track), bait shop with a fishing pond, construction site, and more.

Cutest little Farmer's Market in Erie!

Handsome as can be, waiting for a fish to come his way outside the bait shop!

When the kids got tired of "adulting" in Tiny Town, it was time to refuel with some snacks. With so many fun food options offered throughout the farm, it was hard to decide where to go! We were not disappointed with the sweet treats we found!

Smiles for days when you have Root Beer floats this good!

Once we got some gas in our tanks, we started to make our way towards the corn maze. The kids stopped to mike Bessie the Cow, do the Low Ropes Course, tackle the Tire Fort, and slide down Slide Mountain.

And then we encountered Big Foot.

I'm not exaggerating when I tell you, you have never seen anything quite like this 8-acre corn maze! Not only is the design jaw-dropping, but the execution of extraction is flawless. This corn maze has a map you can access from your phone to see where you are in the maze or else we would have never made it out! This Big Foot-designed corn maze is broken up into regions, and each time you check in a section, an aerial view is revealed. If you make it through the whole thing, you will see it all shown on your phone. My family was not patient enough to tackle the entire thing, so we may or may not have grabbed our view from the drone ;)

Is it cheating if you have to use the drone to make it out of the corn maze? Asking for a friend. But seriously, how do they make such an amazing corn maze?!

By the time we made it out of the maze, the kids were eager to ride the Pedal Carts and play on the Jumpkin Patch before we left. Mom tip - make sure you have socks for your kiddos to jump on the Jumpkin Patch! Unfortunately, we did not allocate enough time to visit, so we missed out on some fun! I guess we'll just have to add another trip to Port Farms to our list the next time we're headed to Erie, PA!
